Our January "Portraits" concert presents music that paints pictures in sound. Through the genius of Mendelssohn, we can visit the wild Hebrides Islands; Copland's Quiet City draws a poignant scene of expressive longing, while Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 (Scottish) serves as a collection of postcards from his tour of Scotland. Close your eyes, and see our world through the eyes of great composers!

We are excited to present a new "Pops" event this year! "Jeans 'n' Classics" brings us the music of the 70's Horn Bands: Earth, Wind and Fire; Chicago; and Blood, Sweat and Tears! The days of vinyl LP's, long hair and leisure suits will come alive as we enjoy music you can sing along with. Wear your jeans (or leisure suit), grow your hair long and relive the 70's with Jeans 'n' Classics.

Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique is the stuff dreams are made of. Each movement is filled with fantastic shapes and characters. Espana by Chabrier is a fantasy piece that evokes the people of Spain. Poulenc's Gloria combines our OSO Chorus, and a wonderful soprano in a celebration of glory from the Roman Catholic mass. It was awarded a Grammy Award in 1965 with the Robert Shaw Chorale.
